Last week, we talked about how badges can help you land a new job. Of course before you start employing the power of badges, you have to earn one first. However, some professionals aren’t sure that obtaining certification for their skills is valuable.
“I know how to create a spreadsheet. I don’t need to take a test to prove it.” “Going through the course was enough. I’m not going to pay more money to get my certification.” “It’s not like anyone really pays attention to certifications.”
Investing the time and money into learning new skills that will strengthen your marketability and contribution-level is incredibly important. But telling an employer or your network that you know how to do something is one thing. Proving you can do it is something else entirely.
Set yourself apart.
A professional certification can set you apart from everyone else who merely checks the box on the job application that indicates they have a particular skill. And when that certification is represented with a badge, you’ve just made it that much easier for a recruiter to verify your skill.
Which of your certifications would you like to see represented with a badge? Let us know in the comments below.
