It was announced this week that Acclaim will begin issuing badges for Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection (PHAP). The association's mission is to empower capable and informed professionals to transform humanitarian action. To that end, PHAP offers digital badges for several certifications and in recognition of association membership.
As a software architect and developer, Saint-Paul Tinga is a believer in the value of IT certifications and the badges that represent them. Saint-Paul is an Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 8 Programmer, working for Pindelia. “Pindelia is a Gold-level member in the Oracle PartnerNetwork Specialized program. The company works on software integration and designs new software for companies,” he explained.
Java skills are in-demand by employers, and Saint-Paul felt that earning his Oracle certification would help him stand out in a crowded field. “By becoming certified, I learned about new APIs which helped me update different parts of my programs and improve some of our software performances. It also adds credibility to my knowledge.”
Saint-Paul was issued a digital badge through Acclaim to represent his Oracle certification, and was able to create new opportunities once he shared it online. “After getting certified and adding the badge to my LinkedIn profile, two CEOs from local companies got in touch with me to work with them on a project,” Saint-Paul explained.
The badge also generated a positive response from his employer. “The CEO of Pindalia congratulated me. I can say he trusts me more now that I am certified, and he can see exactly what I did to earn that certification.”
The accolades and positive reinforcement also come from his peers and co-workers. “I’ve received feedback from others in the IT industry. They say, ‘Great job! You’re Java certified, keep going!” Saint-Paul plans to take the Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 8 exam and then move on to reach the enterprise architect level.
In addition to all the external recognition he has received, Saint-Paul revealed that his certification and badge also provide him with inner confidence, especially when working on projects with consultants from countries around the world. “I’m now confident in my skills and am not afraid to share and defend my viewpoints.”
He believes that getting certified is worthwhile, and he encourages others to pursue certification, too. “With the badge from Acclaim,” Saint-Paul adds, “everywhere you go, people will see that you are credible in your field.”

We've heard from many of you who've felt frustrated in trying to do this because email clients such as Outlook require a resized image in order to appear nicely within the email signature. That's why we've made it easy for you to download a resized version of your badge image.
Use the Large size for documents, like your resume, and the Small size for your email signature. And don't forget to copy your badge URL and hyperlink it to the image so your badge can be viewed and verified.
How to download your badge image
From your Acclaim profile page, click on the badge you'd like to download.
Click the Share button from the badge details page.
Click the Download icon from the share options.
Then select which size you'd like to download.
Choose Small Image for your email signature.
Click the URL icon from the share options. Click the Copy to Clipboard button, then hyperlink to your badge image within your email signature.
Your badge image will appear nicely within your email signature.

If you're on a Mac and use Gmail, here's how to embed your badge in an email signature. The instructions vary slightly from those found in our video, which features Gmail and Outlook on a PC. If you need any assistance with this process, contact our Support Team. They'd be happy to help you.
Step 1: Copy Image Address
Step 2: Navigate to your email signature within Gmail's settings
Step 3: Paste image URL address
Step 4: Resize the badge image by clicking on it, then selecting Small.
Step 5: Back in Acclaim, copy the badge URL from the Share Badge menu
Step 6: Time to hyperlink the badge. Highlight the badge image over in Gmail.
Step 7: Click on Change.
Step 8: Paste the link you copied from Acclaim.
Step 9: Your badge is now hyperlinked and ready to be verified by anyone you send an email to.
